Mid-December 2021 a women found a serious injured dog in Ras Al Khaimah. He was paralysed from waist downwards and unable to walk. The dog wouldn’t survive if he hadn’t been rushed to the hospital in time for an emergency surgery. Three months on and after a four-hour long emergency surgery this dog called Buddy is now doing well and will get second chance at life. After 11 gunshots dog is on path to recovery. What we know

According to an Instagram post by Animalia, Buddy was shot at close range by 11 bullets. He was rescued and taken to the Ras Al Khaimah Animal Welfare Centre. He was then brought to the Animalia veterinary clinic in Abu Dhabi where Buddy underwent a four-hour long spine surgery to remove the bullets. As quoted in The National it was one of the most difficult surgeries for Dr Amer Grizic at Animalia.

Buddy is on path to recovery thanks to the rescuers, veterinary doctors and his foster humans who are doing everything possible to nurse him back to health. He is looking for his forever home now. Despite going through severe torture, Buddy still trusts humans.

Collaborative efforts needed to stop cruelty against animals

Condemning this act of cruelty, Animalia in the same Instagram post stated, what happened to Buddy is unacceptable. We see cases of animal abuse every day and we must work together to create a safe place for animals. UAE law prohibits cruelty against animal. And we are here to provide support.

For clarity, in the UAE animal cruelty can be punished by up to a year in prison or a fine of AED200,000.
