Let’s dive right in, shall we?
All-time fav: Marley & Me
Allow me to start with my all-time favourite Marley & Me. It’s an almost two-hour long movie with the trouble loving Labrador Marley as the central character. The movie is all about growing with your dog through various life stages. From being a couple to becoming parents, how Marley’s humans go through life with him at the centre of it all. Marley & Me is sure to make you laugh and cry (every time you watch it).
Meet June & Kopi
Released early this year, June & Kopi is a 1.5-hour long movie. It’s about an Indonesian family that adopts a stray called June who instant hits off with the family’s Pitbull Kopi. The movie beautifully shows how June overcomes her fear of children when their pack grows with the arrival of a baby human. This otherwise light-hearted movie, despite references to lost pregnancy and conditions like asthma in a child, ends on a sad note.
After Life, a hidden gem
Besides a range of other emotions and depth of relationships, After Life shows how a dog called Brandy saves his human from committing suicide after the loss of his spouse. The human stops himself every time, worrying about what will happen to Brandy if he is gone too. Two seasons and 12 episodes of After Life are already available on Netflix, so there’s much to catch up on before the third season drops (soon). Beware of binge watching because it’s bound to happen with this one.
Dogs, a must watch
If you haven’t watched Dogs yet, we will judge you. Because for anyone who claims to have ever loved a dog will love this ‘dogu’series. You can take our word! So, we want you to make time for this series of 10 episodes spread over two seasons. From heart-breaking to heart-warming, you are bound to go through every emotion while watching Dogs. My favourite is the episode on the beautiful elder dog Ice from Lake Como.
Expedition Happiness
How many of you think about going on a road trip with your beloved doggos? We do, we think about it all the time. Our dream is to rent a caravan and travel across Europe with Mr. Popo in tow. So, this 1.5-hour movie about a filmmaker and musician couple on an epic road trip with their dog Rudi struck a chord. Go watch it now and share your verdict with us.
