The UAE’s big announcement this week is 4.5 days of work week for the public sector starting from the first day of 2022. While Saturday-Sunday will be weekend, Friday will be half day. At this point there’s not much clarity on what the private sector will do.
Since much is being spoken about it, I too wanted to speak on behalf of the dogs of the UAE.
Does it really matter?
Our obvious question is does this UAE’s big announcement really matter? Apparently, it does – not for us dogs but for humans. Because now they will have to reschedule all the Friday brunches to Saturday and Sunday 😉
Now turning to us doggos we wake up every day like its weekend, so it doesn’t matter. But what does matter is that some of us will have to adjust to humans being home on different days during the week. You know plans the beach day out and play dates accordingly. For some lucky ones like me, even that doesn’t matter because my human works from our dining table. She is at home all the time. I only have to walk around her and wag my tail and depending on the time of the day she takes me out or feeds me. Life is good 😊
On a serious note
Now on a serious note, this UAE’s big announcement we feel will be great if everyone follows it. Yesterday as I was preparing for this Opawnion piece my human read out to me that this move promises to “boost productivity and improve work-life balance.” Well, I couldn’t agree more.
I see some humans always in a rush. They rush while walking their dogs always looking at some device, they rush while driving and they also rush through meals to check mails. That’s not healthy. So, a slightly shorter work week might help these people to plan their lives better and learn to relax. When they have more time in hand, they will also understand why us doggos sniff every bush and roll in the grass leisurely. Because we are never in a rush and that helps us to live better and happier lives.
PS: And because we lead happier lives, we bring joy to our humans too. Its simple!
