Retired bomb sniffer dogs are up for adoption

A group of retired bomb sniffer dogs in Dubai are looking for their forever homes, reported The National. The K9 unit of Dubai Police are on a lookout for loving families keen to adopt six retired bomb sniffer dogs. From a pack of 12, 6 dogs have already found their forever homes.

While applications to adopt these lovely and smart canine companions are open, the K9 unit of Dubai Police will undertake strict inspection to find the right, loving family for each dog.

Some of the mandates include a spacious home, prior knowledge of dealing with dogs and a promise not to sell or give the dog away. Interested families will also have to be willing for inspection by the K9 unit of Dubai Police from time to time. Importantly, every interested family must make the commitment to take good care of these dogs.

Those interested to apply to adopt a retired police dog can reach out on: 042100802 or m.alrahoomi@dubaipolice.gov.ae

Since last year, these trained police dogs retired from their active service have been allowed for adoption. Until 2019, even after retirement, these dogs used to stay with their handlers.
