A massive step in the right direction, recently Greece has passed a stringent law against animal cruelty. Anyone found guilty of serious cruelty against animals might even face up to 10 years of imprisonment.
According to The Independent, the Greece parliament has unanimously passed a law to protect animals against any form of cruelty. Those who are found guilty of being cruel to animals will face punishments ranging from a minimum of one-year imprisonment and fines between EUR5,000 and 15,000 up to harsher punishment of 10 years imprisonment.
Cruelty of any form against animals is a heinous crime and should be dealt with harsh consequences. As Greece has passed a stringent law against animal cruelty, it now joins countries such as the UK, Canada and Australia which also have in place tough measures to protect animals against cruelty.
