Have you ever met a dog called Slippers?
Well, she is the first dog I’ve met whose name is Slippers. And this is her story.
A little more than a year ago Slippers adopted her human family that includes Riz, Apple and a teddy bear called Slompy. We spoke with her human recently and here’s what she had to say.

‘Slippers’ is a rather unique name. What made you choose that name?
Riz: Most afternoons Slippers joins me when I do yoga. She is very good at doing her downward dog pose and loves to bring her toys and my flip flops on the yoga mat. That’s why we named her ‘Slippers’ as in flip flops because she loves to play with them.
Was it love at first sight?
Riz: We adopted Slippers in February 2021. She had two siblings and I clearly remember one look at Slippers, and I said to myself: “Yes, that’s my dog.” It was love at first sight. She looked odd and tiny but that’s what made her so special.
What are some of her goofiest traits?
Riz: Slippers loves kicking anything that brushes her side leg, it’s funny specially because she has tiny legs. Another goofy trait is how she dances her bum out of happiness when we return home from work. It’s funny yet endearing the way Slippers acts extra clingy on waking up in the middle of her nap to check if we are around. Then she smothers us kisses before going back to sleep.
On days you feel blah how does Slippers inspire you to get up and show up?
Riz: Whenever I feel blah, I just look at Slippers because it reminds me that dogs are always in the present moment. Never thinking about the past nor future. Just really enjoying the moment. That along with Slippers’ cuteness drives any gloom away.
One message that you’d like to send out to our readers.
Riz: That will have to be: Adopt, don’t shop! If you want to know and feel what unconditional love is bring a dog home. However, also remember that getting a dog is a big responsibility.
