Since I must, starting by wishing all our readers Happy New Year. Although I must admit that I completely fail to understand why only one day must be ‘happy’. I mean shouldn’t everyday be happy? Anyway, over to my first o’pawnion piece of 2023 – here are 5 New Year’s resolutions for every dog.
Those of you who might wonder why new year resolutions for dogs? That’s because from experience we know that humans will stick to their new year resolution(s) maximum for the first two weeks of January. What after that? That’s where we dogs step in to constantly remind them to be happy all-year round. Over to the 5 resolutions now.
Make everyday happy
For a moment think about how nice it would be if humans could be as happy as they feel on our Bark Days and Gotcha Days, all-year round. Well, for some reason humans like to be happy only on some days, which I’d really like to change. So, I’m going to make a cute face every morning and make my humans feel as if it’s my Bark Day every day.
Celebrate the moment
I feel ecstatic every time I pee on another dog’s pee. That’s true, nothing icky about it. On every walk I pee so many times that humans can’t even keep a count and every time I feel so good. It’s like celebrating that moment. So, I’ve decided to teach my humans to celebrate every moment too.
Exercise body and mind
I’m tired of humans complaining about weight gain. So, this year I’m seriously committing to make humans exercise. And no, walking the dog isn’t enough especially if you’re looking into your phones. Exercise is for the body and mind and thus, us dog-kind have this huge responsibility towards our humankind to understand this. We must make them as committed to exercising themselves as they are to exercising us.
Eat healthy
This is an extension of the last point. Just like humans’ research for hours to find healthy food for us, they should also eat healthy too. Now, we can’t research stuff for them, but we work hard all-year round resisting begging or scavenging for food and that should serve as a good lesson. Isn’t it? they too should steer away from junk.
Create ‘us’-time
Finally, even though it seems we have all the time in the world to spend with each other (I mean with our humans), we must make every moment special. Start with simple things like creating a few moments of ‘us’-time. We can play with puzzles or balls, or tug of war, or simply go for a run. Its not that difficult you see. But one thing, do these activities for the joy of it, not just to click photos for the Gram.
