Chicken jerky treats: Recipe by Dr Karen Shaw Becker
Ingredient:
Free range organic chicken breast – (you can first try out the recipe with a small batch using 250 grams of chicken breast)
Directions:
- Slice chicken breast into 1/2-inch strips and place on dehydrator tray.
- Dehydrate at 145°F for two hours.
- Reduce temperature to 120°F for another four hours or until the meat is thoroughly dry.
- Droolicious chicken jerky treats are ready.
- You can store this in the refrigerator for up to three weeks.
Green chicken crumpets: Recipe by Dr Karen Shaw Becker
Ingredients:
- Ground chicken – 1 cup
- Freshly chopped basil – ½ cup
- Plain organic yogurt – ¼ cup (but first ensure your dog isn’t lactose intolerant)
- Hemp protein powder – 1 tablespoon
Directions:
- Preheat oven to 350°F.
- Combine all ingredients in a mixing bowl.
- Make bite-sized morsels and place on greased cookie sheet.
- Bake 15-20 minutes or until light brown. And healthy home-made green chicken crumpet treats are ready.
Three-step way of making chicken treats: Recipe from AKC
Ingredients:
- Grilled chicken – 2 cups (chicken must be skinless and boneless)
- ¾ plain low-fat or fat-free yogurt (don’t use yogurt with xylitol and don’t use at all if your dog is lactose intolerant)
- Carrot – 1 (if your dog is diabetic, use a smaller amount)
- Extra virgin olive oil – 3 tablespoons
Directions:
- Stir all the ingredients together and mix well.
- Freeze in ice cube trays.
- For small dogs, you can pour the mixture into a piping bag and pipe little droplets onto a parchment-lined baking sheet before freezing.
